Our research uses new forms of data to better understand travel behaviour in cities.
Transport is a key urban sector with inextricable links to other sectors such as housing, environment, energy, and the economy. Big data such as that from traffic sensors or smartphone apps can be combined with traditional data such as those from travel surveys, allowing transport researchers to investigate global challenges in transport more rigorously. We collect and validate several new forms of transport data, and use approaches such as simulation, advanced statistical modelling, and machine learning to provide actionable insights to planners, policy makers, and industry.
